Kricklewood Farm Sunflower Oil is made using the traditional ‘Cold Press’ method which results in an unrefined, natural oil not subjected to heat or chemical processing. It has a low smoking temperature of 225 F / 107 C compared to 320 F / 160 C for extra virgin Olive oil.
It is best used for ‘low heat’ dishes so that the flavour is retained. It can be used as an alternative to olive oil when a locally produced oil with a lighter, nuttier flavour is desired. It can also be used as an alternative to butter for corn on the cob, new potatoes and more.
