Hand Poured Goat Milk Soap:
This soap is made using a traditional cold process soap making technique. A milk and lye mixture is combined with olive oil and vegetable shortening under controlled temperature conditions. When it reaches the right consistency, honey is added and the soap is ready to pour into the molds. This is the basic recipe and gives a very rich lightly scented soap with just a hint of milk and honey.

For scented varieties, dried herbs and essential oils are added just before pouring. Lavender, Lemon Verbena, Cinnamon Oatmeal and Rosemary Mint are just a few of the varieties available. All varieties of soap is aged for a minimum of 30 days before using to allow it to completely cure. More info.
Beeswax Candles: Beeswax candles offer a light honey scent, a golden flame, and the longest, cleanest burn of any candle. They also clean the air like a natural air purifier. It is believed that for each pound of beeswax provided by a honey bee, the bee visits 33 million flowers!Beeswax candles are hand poured using local wax and featured in votive and pillar formats. Note cards, prints and other art objects: The digital camera has always been in hand when taking my morning walks or looking after the chickens. There is never a shortage of images to capture and some of them are worth sharing by offering cards, prints and other objects which are loosely referred to as ’art’. One of them is taking old storm windows, the kind with 6 or more small panes and doing a mixed media treatment using the photos, paste and brightly colored paint. I enjoy doing them and they seem to be enjoyed by others as a ‘suncatcher’ of sorts. More info.

Seasonal Produce: This is the first season on the farm but we have been lucky with the results of the garden plot so far. It is small at 30 x 40 ft and we are already working on preparing 3 other plots of the same size for next year but the plot has been productive. Among the crops for this year are lettuce greens, spinach, basil, peas, green beans, tomatoes, onions, potatoes as well as cut flowers. Call ahead for availability of what is being harvested when you plan to visit. More Info.

Farm Fresh Eggs: There is nothing like the dark yellow, almost orange, yolk of an egg from the farm. Our chickens enjoy fresh air and sunshine every morning at 6:00 when they rush out of the coop to see what the day has in store for them. We’ve a small flock for now, a mix of mostly heritage breeds laying white, brown and of course green eggs. The Chantecler is one of the breeds we chose, it is considered the only true Canadian variety and was developed by the monks of Oka Quebec. It is also endangered and could be lost if more poultry keepers do not add them to their flock. Dark Brahmas, Copper Marans and Auracanas are a few other interesting varieties we keep. More info.
